Serviive Coffee Co. Travels: Top 5 Coffee Shops in Utah

When you think of Utah, “good coffee” is probably not what comes to mind. That’s a fair assessment. Utah is blessed with beautiful landscapes and an abundance of outdoorsy tourist destinations, but coffee offerings for tourists and locals alike are indeed scant. The good news is that there ARE a few gems hidden around the state. Since moving here two years ago, finding great coffee has been a priority everywhere we go. Here are our top picks:

1. Alpha Coffee - Salt Lake City

This is our go-to shop when we’re at home in SLC. Like, love it so much we nearly bought a house solely because it was within walking distance to Alpha. If you are headed to ANY of the ski resorts in the Cottonwood Canyons, you should make this your first stop. Located right at the mouth of Big Cottonwood Canyon, we recommend getting a Honeybadger or a dirty chai to sip as you drive up for a hike or a day on the slopes.

2. Kiva Koffeehouse - Escalante

Tasty coffee and food, literally hanging from a cliff in the most beautiful middle-of-nowhere location? Yes, please! Kiva Coffee is the place for anyone who loves off the beaten path finds. If you are lucky enough to be traveling Highway 12 between Boulder and Escalante, definitely plan to stop here.

3. River Rock Roasting Company - Hurricane

Stop here to drink up the wonderful coffee and drink in the beautiful views on their back porch on your way to/from Zion National Park. Their Canyon Ritual blend is our favorite, and you can’t argue with that name if you’re a lover of southern Utah like we are.

4. Wasatch Roasting Company - Ogden

True story: we will make up reasons to drive up to Ogden just so we can get coffee here. It’s a teeny storefront on a side street right off of historic 25th Street. Whether you’re in Ogden on your way to Snowbasin/Powder Mountain or just because Ogden is a cool town, check out Wasatch Roasting Co.

5. Moab Garage - Moab

Right in downtown Moab, this shop doesn’t have the quite the jawdropping views as the other southern Utah shops on this list. But we love the cool vibe, and as always the coffee is stellar. Grab a cup to-go and you’ll be in Arches or Canyonlands in no time.

Bonus: Maud’s Cafe - Salt Lake City

We can’t wrap this list without a shoutout to Maud’s Cafe. They are doing great work combating homelessness in Utah by partnering with Volunteers of America to employee youth experiencing homelessness. And they serve a delicious cup of coffee!

Aside from family, philanthropy, and great coffee, travel is a core passion of ours. We hope you follow along as we ADVENTURE On, Do Good, and Drink Coffee!
